Slow Point
June 12 - July 2
While I was there, my 3 year old laptop died. The graphics card showed signs of giving out, and I guess it finally did. So I'm getting a Macbook! I won't officially get it until August, so I'm 'stranded' on my projects until then. Sorry!
Until then, I'm wondering what to do about all those teaching files I lost when my laptop crashed a few months ago. I'm starting to rebuild, but it's super hard. I had notes from my film school along with their call sheet and other such documents used for students. Ouch. It's not worth forking over $1000 to recover it though, especially when they can't guarantee to recover everything.
So this hectic year is now reaching a slow point, and I'm happy for it. I wish things moved faster over all, but maybe the new Macbook Pro I'm getting will speed projects up, letting me focus on building up teachings for Haitians.
After 3 weeks in Norway and not once seeing night fall (I was there during the summer solstice), it feels great to be back in the wonderful hot climate of Haiti. Norway is one of the most peacful, beautiful countries in the world. My Bestemor (Norwegian for grandma) lives there and she works in Christian Psychology. I met my younger cousin on the way there. His name is Joshua Edskerud and he lives in California. The two of us had teamed up to help create a small teaching series of our Bestemor's work. It turned out to be a huge undertaking, keeping us buried in the basement of our bestemor's house editing hours of teachings until the very last day. In fact, it officially got finished on the way to the airport.
