To cover the last 6 months concisely, let me just share with you a summary, but before that, here’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to me all year:

The van I was in blew up. No fireworks, but it turned into a raging fireball 4 minutes after the leaking gas ignited. At a gas station. With all our stuff inside it. Our team piled out as soon as black smoke emerged from under our seats. Unfortunately thousands of dollars worth of things were lost, but for me only my nifty hiking backpack that was given by an awesome DTS staff member in Amsterdam. It only had a few hundred dollars worth of clothes & personal items inside. Plus all my DTS notes. Actually, I lost my “Wreck this Journal” journal too. Oh how I miss it! At least it fulfilled it’s purpose.

That’s the word God’s been speaking to me through several sources. just. move. This “next step” isn’t about what I’m doing after DTS, or something to add to the Bon Fwi show. It’s me to make a life-changing desicion based on what's currently in front of me. That’s scary! No, it’s not getting married if that's what you're thinking (though that might come along the way.) You’ll have to find out what step I take on the next update!

To be continued…

EXCITING DAY - April 14, 2014

You know that point when a fire is so big you know the gas tank will not explode, and then realize there's only a short time to salvage before the flames take it all ? Yah... that's this moment.

"Next Step."

We were en route to Gran Rac when it happened. Gran Rac is an area that endures on a daily basis the wailing of Rara’s and voodoo rituals and sacrifices. The church there is solid, having been founded nearly 17 years ago, but it hasn’t grown much. Our team personally led several salvations, including a lady known to be the ‘queen of Raras’ (who actually asked us to save her!) We left knowing Satan had received quite a few hard knocks, and I promised to return as a wedding photographer if several of the Christian families found a way to afford getting married. They previously assumed it impossible, but when Philipson on our team shared how God provided for his marriage despite not having finances, and then showed them the video which I had made for their wedding, faith shot in the room! Some vowed to get married before the end of the year. Yah, I’d give up a van full of stuff for that.

Summary of staffing DTS - January - May 2014

You h;

On outreach, we traveled to 5 locations:

Jan’s orphanage in Gonaives - We spent 2 weeks loving the kids, speaking prophetic words into their lives, and holding a bible camp.

The church in Gran Rac - We encouraged and strengthened the faith of the church through Bible studies and church services. We led many to salvation through sharing testimonies and dramas in public places and then passing door to door and sharing personally. We held a a Bible camp for over one hundred kids. And, through prayer walks and worship times, broke spiritual strongholds!

An Evangelistic Gathering in Saint Marc - This actually happened on our YWAM campus, with over 5,000 people in attendance. We served during the event to provide security and promote the FCC and DTS schools. My primary job though was to film the event and a video of it will be coming on the YWAM page soon!

YWAM Caribbean Staff Conference - we traveled to the Dominican Republic and attended the bi-annual conference that brought together over 240 YWAMers from all over the Caribbean. We connected with YWAMers all over and heard amazing messages from famous speakers in the YWAM world.

The Mountain of Hope ministry in Font Baptiste - This is a YWAM satellite ministry run by Roberteau and Carolyn Desilhomme. I actually led this portion of the outreach! We did some physical work such as painting and weeding, and then spent a week teaching English and holding a VBS for 50-100 kids.

We had a DTS of 4 students from America & Canada. Since all of them were girls, I didn’t have a one-on-one to personally work alongside. There was originally a couple too, but they returned to their home church. This was my first time staffing DTS, but I felt more a student re-learning what it means to be a missionary. Many, many, things in my life were realigned that I had lost sight of from the years of pouring myself into media work.

During the school’s lecture phase, I continued with Tet Kabrit episodes for local Saint Marc television (click here if you’ve never seen one) and got consistent positive reports from all who’ve watched it. Well, one guy told me he was eager to see me move into more serious themes. Some just love that I’m doing it, others have told me that a particular episode or message impacted them. Woohoo!
